Nothing will startle you more than spooking up a Ring-Necked Pheasant. The sound is common in the fall when the farmers start picking their crops, stirring up the pheasants as they go. This setting was at a friend's farm near DeWitt, Iowa. The Pheasant, with all its variations in color and feather textures was probably one of the hardest, yet most enjoyable subjects I've painted.
