This drawing was probably my most challenging yet. Since I'm right-handed, I normally work from foreground to background, left to right. Which was fine for the buck and old tree on the right. The background though made me take all the precautions not to smear what I had already finished. I saw this old tree scene at Severson Dells near Rockford, Illinois during one of the shows that I attend annually. They have a very nice nature trail to follow, and if you don't see some deer along the way, it's very unusual. This particular buck I photographed at Wildlife Prarie Park near Peoria, Illinois.
