Hello and welcome to my website!

My childhood was spent in rural Iowa and currently, I reside with my wife, son and daughter in Eldridge, Iowa. Eldridge is a small, quiet town near the Quad Cities and the Mississippi River. I have always enjoyed drawing, almost since I was old enough to hold a pencil. My favorite subjects to draw early in life were sports figures and wildlife. Growing up, I was always inspired by the small, wild animals and birds I encountered walking the cornfields of my family's farm. The pheasants, rabbits, squirrels, deer and occasional red fox were among my first subjects. If I would have to pick a favorite subject these days, it would have to be the Raptors. Nothing is quite as impressive as the eyes of an eagle or hawk.

All my paintings/drawings start as a image that I have either seen or imagined. I use research material taken from years of photos that I have taken either in the field or my own backyard. Many times I will use several photos in one painting. Sometimes, a painting will start with a background scene that inspired me or I will use a subject and try to create a natural setting to capture that moment. To me, nothing touches me quite like the sights and sounds of wildlife. To be outside in the fall or spring , seeing and hearing a flock of migrating geese. Or memories of a fishing trip to northern Minnesota and listening to the calls of a Loon or Bald Eagle. If only I could draw with one hand while fishing with the other.

My works are on display in galleries around the Quad Cities and I exhibit in numerous arts and crafts shows throughout the Iowa-Illinois region. Many of my original acrylic painting are available in signed and numbered limited edition prints. My paintings have reached collectors throughout the United States, and overseas to Germany and Belgium. Also, I donate prints annually to organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and other fund raisers.
